Brazil: Ferry station at Plaza XV now bears the name of Silvio Santos

The ferry station at Praça XV in Rio de Janeiro was renamed "Estação Praça XV de Novembro – Silvio Santos" in 2026, two years after the presenter died at age 93. The change, determined by Law No. 11,140/26, associates the communicator's name with the place where he worked as a product seller on the ferries that connected Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, before entering radio and television. This is the third homage from Alerj to Silvio Santos, who received the title of Honorary Carioca in 1976 and the Tiradentes Medal in 1999. The presenter's sister, Sara Abravanel, said the homage has special meaning as it refers to the beginning of her brother's career.
