Floods in Nepal have left more than 17,000 children in need of urgent humanitarian aid, according to UNICEF. The tragedy, considered the most devastating since the 2015 earthquake, killed hundreds of people and left more than 1,400 missing. The organization's representative in Nepal, Alice Akunga, stated that children in the affected areas "watched their lives be literally swept away by the waters," facing risks of disease, malnutrition, violence, and exploitation. UNICEF is providing support to the victims.
The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, expressed today solidarity with Nepal and lamented the "moment of great trials" that the Nepalese people and authorities face, demonstrating international support in a context of difficulties that the Asian country is going through.
