Tiago Macena became the first Portuguese to obtain the title of Master of Wine, awarded by the Institute of Masters of Wine, a recognition of worldwide prestige in the wine sector. The Portuguese winemaker began his career at Adega Marel, in Amareleja, in the municipality of Moura, where he participated in the start of the project and in the development of traditional talha wines, contributing to the enhancement of local winemaking practices. This achievement places Portugal on the map of the few countries with professionals holding this highest distinction in the wine field.
