Tiago Macena became the first Portuguese to obtain the title of Master of Wine, awarded by the Institute of Masters of Wine, a recognition of worldwide prestige in the wine sector. The Portuguese winemaker began his career at Adega Marel, in Amareleja, in the municipality of Moura, where he participated in the start of the project and in the development of traditional talha wines, contributing to the enhancement of local winemaking practices. This achievement places Portugal on the map of the few countries with professionals holding this highest distinction in the wine field.

Parques de Sintra restores monument to D. Maria I at the National Palace of Queluz

Parques de Sintra is carrying out conservation and restoration work on the Monument to D. Maria I, one of the most prominent sculptural elements of the National Palace of Queluz. The intervention, with an investment of approximately 32 thousand euros and completion expected in October 2026, encompasses sculptures, plinths, steps and decorative components in metal alloy, including the reconstruction of missing fingers on the figures. Created by sculptor João José Aguiar, the work was commissioned in 1794 and includes the statue of the monarch surrounded by four figures representing the European, Asian, African and American continents, in a tribute to the main achievements of her reign.
