Lisbon lost 1200 PSP police officers in the last ten years, as Bruno Pereira warned, defending that the police need structural reforms and reorganization of functions to free up personnel for crime prevention. The official stressed that without profound changes that allow freeing police from functions or locations where they are not needed, it will not be possible to increase response capacity beyond mere reaction to emergencies.
Paulo Raimundo accused the Government of "throwing mud at the wall" regarding the promise not to touch Social Security during this legislation, considering that promise "is worth nothing".
