The Champions League football draw dictated interesting matchups for the Portuguese clubs. Sporting CP found themselves in the so-called "lions' pot," facing Barcelona, giant Manchester teams (Manchester United, Manchester City) and Liverpool, among other opponents such as Galatasaray, LASK, Roma, Shakhtar and Lens. As for FC Porto, in the "dragons' pot," they are positioned to face Manchester City, Napoli, PSV Eindhoven, Slavia Prague, Liverpool, Betis, Feyenoord and LASK.
