The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) of Spain announced that starting from October 1, 2026, a modification to the General Traffic Regulations will come into force, which will allow motorcycles to ride on the shoulder during moments of traffic congestion. This regulatory update aims to manage vehicle flow and improve safety in traffic jam situations on Spanish roads.
