The Cascais City Council confirmed that the Atlântida Cine cinema in Carcavelos, closed since 2024, will continue to operate as a cinema and will not be converted into an auditorium. The local authority responded in this way to an open letter sent by the company Cinetoscópio and the Atlântida Cine Fan Community, who expressed concern about the future of the venue founded in 1982. The City Council revealed that it will acquire the property, intending to requalify it and regularize unregulated situations, while still analyzing partnership proposals for the management and programming of the cinema. The deed of acquisition was approved unanimously in June but has not yet been finalized.
