More than 10,000 coins removed from World Heritage site in Ireland

National Trust staff, the UK's environmental protection organization, removed more than twenty kilograms of coins — equivalent to ten thousand units — from the basalt columns of the Giant's Causeway, a World Heritage Site located in Northern Ireland. The work began in May last year, after a study recommended the removal of the coins, which were causing significant damage to the rock formations. Dr. Cliff Henry, responsible for nature conservation at the National Trust, stated that the coins were rusting and posing a threat to the integrity of the natural site.

Nepal: New provisional toll points to 392 dead

At least 392 people died and around 1,400 are missing following the devastating flood on the border between Nepal and Tibet, China. In Nepal there are 389 dead and at least 910 missing, while in Tibet there are at least three dead and around 558 missing. Among the missing are more than 500 foreign citizens, including three Portuguese (a fourth was found alive), 178 Indians, 53 Ukrainians, 35 Australians and 33 British. US authorities indicated that at least 90 American citizens are missing. Rescue operations involve nearly 13,300 personnel who have already rescued 796 people by helicopter and 756 by land. Chinese meteorological authorities warned of new rainfall over the next three days that could hinder rescue efforts and increase the risk of further landslides.

Drugs hidden in various cakes: Lebanese influencer arrested for alleged drug trafficking

The Lebanese influencer Georges Dib was arrested after about a year and a half on the run from authorities, having been sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for drug trafficking. He is accused of being involved in an international drug operation in which 820 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in various pastry items.
