Ratko Mladic (1942-2026), the general who transformed Bosnia into a death camp

Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian-Serb general who died in 2026 at the age of 83, died while serving a life sentence imposed by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. During the Bosnian War (1992-1995), Mladić led the Serbian forces that bombarded Sarajevo for almost four years and were responsible for the Srebrenica massacre, which resulted in the death of approximately 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys. His trial was marked by decades of evading justice, having been arrested only in 2011 in Serbia.
