Uganda was officially declared free of ebola by the World Health Organization on this Thursday, after 42 days without registering new cases of the disease. The WHO reported that the last confirmed ebola patient, imported from another country, was discharged on July 16, 2026, and there was no subsequent transmission associated with this case. The organization praised the Ugandan government, health professionals and partners for the robust measures taken to contain the outbreak, which had overloaded health services in some areas of the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
