Biometric data at airports to be collected at 100% starting in September

Biometric data collection at Portuguese airports will now be done at 100% from September 6 for passengers covered by the European Entry/Exit System (EES), Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced, anticipating increased pressure on border control services and stating that the Government is prepared to face this challenge.

100% biometrics at the airport starting September 6th

The prime minister visited Lisbon Airport to monitor the preparation for the full implementation of the EES (Entry/Exit System), which will enable the airport to achieve 100% biometric capability. The system will be fully operational from September 6th. While acknowledging challenges, the government guarantees that queuing conditions will see positive improvements.
