"Second chance at life": the account of the Australian who survived a shark attack

Leah Stewart, a 34-year-old Australian, survived a shark attack at Coogee Beach in Sydney on June 13. She suffered multiple bites to her arms and legs, lost one of her arms and spent 12 days in intensive care, where her mother was kept in an induced coma and underwent several surgeries. In one of her first interviews since the attack, Stewart described it as a "second chance at life" and recalled her first thoughts during the incident.
A nine-year-old child was seriously injured after falling from the second floor of a building. As soon as the mother realized the accident, she called emergency number 112. The girl was treated at the scene by an INEM medical team and later transported with serious injuries to the Hospital das Caldas da Rainha.
