He died at the age of 84 Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian-Serb military commander known as the "butcher of Bosnia," sentenced to life in prison by the International Criminal Tribunal for crimes against humanity, including the massacre of more than 8,000 Bosnians in Srebrenica and the prolonged siege of Sarajevo. After 15 years on the run, he was arrested in Serbia in 2011 and transferred to The Hague, where he was serving his sentence.
