Public lighting concessions in Brazil continue to advance since the first PPP in the sector in 2014, with 158 contracts in 187 municipalities benefiting 27% of the population, according to ABCIP. The expectation is to reach 25 more cities by the end of this year, driven by evidence that modernization projects reduce energy consumption, decrease expenses, generate environmental gains and increase safety. An exemplary case is BHIP in Belo Horizonte, the first public lighting PPP in the country.
Portugal is going to buy 75 armored vehicles from Spain for the marines, in an investment of 120 million euros fully funded by the European Union. The first vehicles, manufactured in Spain, should start arriving in the country next year.
