Nuclear energy in Portugal enters the debate about data centers

The former Secretary of State for the Environment, José Eduardo Martins, argued that nuclear energy will have to enter the political discussion if the Government maintains its strategy of attracting data centers to Portugal. In statements during the PSD Summer University in Castelo de Vide, the former government official considered that the predicted growth in energy consumption associated with these centers raises questions about the capacity of the national electricity grid, suggesting that nuclear energy could be a solution to consider in the future.
André Ventura, during a visit to "alert political power," accused the Government of "failure" in resolving post-Kristin problems, considering that the delay represents "the State's failure" and that the most affected populations "were forgotten."
