Federal Police targets group suspected of sending Brazilian women for sexual exploitation in France

Federal Police on Thursday launched Operation El Dorado to dismantle a criminal group suspected of sending Brazilian women for sexual exploitation in southern France. Six search and seizure warrants are being executed in São Bernardo do Campo and São Vicente, in Baixada Santista, with orders from the Federal Court in São Paulo. Three suspects had precautionary measures determined, including passport surrender, prohibition from leaving the country, electronic monitoring, and appearance at the investigation. Blocking of up to R$10 million in accounts and assets of two suspects and companies linked to them was also ordered. The investigation began from international police cooperation with French authorities, who identified that the group offered victims travel documents, plane tickets, accommodation, and advertisement publication abroad. The suspects may be charged with international human trafficking.
A nine-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after falling from the second floor of a building in Caldas da Rainha. The PSP is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident, with no further details yet about what caused the fall.
