Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama died at 97 in a hospital in Tokyo on August 14, according to a statement from the museum and foundation bearing her name. Known for her iconic "Infinity Rooms" and works filled with polka dot patterns, Kusama transformed visions that had accompanied her since childhood into a career celebrated worldwide. Despite the playful appearance of her creations, the artist faced significant social and mental health challenges throughout her life, dedicating her work to therapeutic art.
