Housing loan stock has biggest annual increase since 2003 in July

The housing loan stock in Portugal reached 118,021 million euros in July, representing an annual variation rate of 11%, which constitutes the largest annual increase since 2003, according to data released by the Bank of Portugal. This significant growth reflects the dynamics of the Portuguese real estate market and the accumulated volume of credit granted for housing purchases.

IHRU opens competitions for 77 affordable rental homes in 19 municipalities

The Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) has opened nine competitions by draw for the allocation of 77 affordable rental housing units, under the Rental Support Program (PAA). Sword Health is going to buy mental health app Headspace for more than 170 million

The Portuguese unicorn Sword Health is planning to acquire the mental health company Headspace for an estimated value between 200 and 300 million dollars (approximately 172 to 257 million euros), according to Axios. Headspace, which was valued at three billion dollars in 2021, offers online therapy, coaching, and wellness services. CEO Virgílio Bento stated that the acquisition aims to prepare for a potential stock market listing in 2028, considering mental health an essential pillar. The operation comes seven months after the purchase of the German company Kaia Health for 285 million dollars and could position Sword Health among the largest transactions in the digital and mental health sector.
