AGU sues Discord and seeks 500 million reais for collective moral damages

The Attorney General's Office (AGU) filed a public civil action against the Discord platform in the Federal Court of Brasília, seeking 500 million reais for collective moral damages, after identifying violations affecting vulnerable groups such as women, children, adolescents, and animals. Minister Jorge Messias stated that the platform allows illegal behavior due to insufficient protection. The Federal Police found that the company does not adopt the minimum requirements of Brazilian legislation, including the Digital Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA Digital). The AGU attempted, for two weeks, to negotiate a conduct adjustment agreement with the company, but Discord refused to assume commitments before the Brazilian state.
André Ventura, during a visit to "alert political power," accused the Government of "failure" in resolving post-Kristin problems, considering that the delay represents "the State's failure" and that the most affected populations "were forgotten."
