Median price per m2 in Lisbon "is identical to Brussels". But "the salaries of each country are not comparable"

The median price per square meter in Lisbon is practically identical to that of Brussels, according to data cited by economist Carlos Daniel Santos, who acknowledges however that housing valuations have increased significantly and reached levels "a bit unsustainable". The specialist warns that this rise may mean that "the market is reaching some limit", underscoring that wages between the two countries are not comparable, which makes price comparisons more complex and highlights the difficulties faced by Portuguese workers in accessing housing.

Retorta opens temporary accommodation for families in vulnerable situations

A new unit of the National Urgent and Temporary Housing Fund was inaugurated in Retorta, Vila do Conde, resulting from a partnership between the Municipality and the local Santa Casa da Misericordia. The structure aims to host families in vulnerable situations, functioning as a transition stage towards permanent housing solutions, ensuring protection, inclusion and autonomy. This project is part of the national strategy for creating residential units through acquisition, rehabilitation or construction, with an investment of 203 million euros under the PRR, foreseeing 2,000 emergency or transition accommodations nationwide, in addition to dwellings, housing blocks and centers for security forces.
