The massive judicial settlement approved by Federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland, California, represents a turning point in the relationship between tech giants and the mental health of minors in the United States. Meta agreed to implement unprecedented restrictions on its Instagram and Facebook platforms, which together have more than 3 billion users worldwide, in addition to a historic disbursement exceeding 17 billion dollars (14,460 million euros) to settle the lawsuits that accused the company of designing addictive features harmful to children and adolescents.
