Accident in Italy: aircraft collides with cable car cables and falls from an altitude of 1,400 meters

An accident involving an ultralight aircraft caused two deaths in the mountainous area of Ossola, in northwest Italy. The aircraft, with two occupants aged 62 and 63, collided with the cables of a cable car, caught fire and fell from an altitude of 1,400 meters, near the reservoir of the Campliccioli dam, on the Swiss border.
A nine-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after falling from the second floor of a building in Caldas da Rainha. The PSP is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident, with no further details yet about what caused the fall.
The fires that devastated Vouzela and Valpaços were officially classified as a "natural disaster", opening the way for support to affected farmers. The subsidies cover 100% of the first 10,000 euros of eligible expenditure, and agricultural holdings that recorded damages exceeding 30% of productive potential can apply for these government support measures.
