Death toll in Nepal and Tibet rises to 165. Nearly 1,400 missing, including two Portuguese

The floods that hit yesterday the cross-border region between Nepal and Tibet caused at least 165 dead. The Nepalese authorities report 826 missing, including 529 tourists, while the Chinese authorities indicate 558 missing people, making a total of 1,384 missing. Among the missing are two Portuguese citizens.
A nine-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after falling from the second floor of a building in Caldas da Rainha. The PSP is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident, with no further details yet about what caused the fall.
The fires that devastated Vouzela and Valpaços were officially classified as a "natural disaster", opening the way for support to affected farmers.
