Mental health at work: companies temporarily exempt from fines

The Federal Supreme Court confirmed, unanimously, the suspension for 90 days of the application of fines to companies related to the new rules of Regulatory Standard 1 (NR-1), which requires employers to manage psychosocial risks in the work environment. Minister André Mendonça understood that there are doubts about the technical and legal criteria for identifying, evaluating, and inspecting such risks, compromising legal certainty in the application of sanctions. The decision prevents punishments based solely on the questioned provisions, but the remaining obligations of NR-1 remain in effect.
