Planning Minister calculates savings of R$ 20 billion in the 2027 Budget with 'triggers' to contain expenses

The minister of Planning, Bruno Moretti, estimates that the spending containment "triggers" should generate savings of approximately R$20 billion in the 2026 Budget. According to the minister, these initiatives prepare the ground for accelerating the fiscal adjustment demanded by the financial market, by limiting mandatory spending and expanding the base of discretionary expenses, making the budget less "rigid." The annual budget bill (Ploa) needs to be sent to Congress by Monday.
