Company and total communion of assets: as Lula's candidate in SC, with R$ 653 thousand in assets, explains Pix transfer of R$ 1 million to himself

The candidate supported by Lula for the government of Santa Catarina, Gelson Merísio (PSB), made a donation of R$ 1 million via Pix to his own campaign, a value 53% higher than the R$ 653 thousand in assets declared to the Electoral Court. The former state deputy campaign stated that both the asset declaration and the donation follow electoral rules, and justified the difference citing the universal community of property regime under which Merísio has been married for 38 years, explaining that the Civil Code prevents the establishment of a partnership between spouses married under this regime.
