Housing exceeds bubble prices by 12%, but only seven regions have broken records
El Periódico Mediterráneo - General27 August 2026 at 06:35
The price of housing in Spain has exceeded the highs of the housing bubble in nominal terms, with the square meter reaching an average of 2,064 euros in the second quarter, according to data from the General Council of Notaries, an increase of 12.4% compared to the 1,837 euros in the same period in 2007. However, this national record hides a very uneven evolution between territories, as only seven autonomous communities managed to surpass the pre-financial crisis highs, while the remaining ten remain below those levels.
