A Lebanese court allowed a transgender woman to update her civil registry documents, changing her name and gender, in a rare decision in that Middle Eastern country, where LGBTQ+ people's rights remain socially taboo and legally complex. The sentence represents a rare legal milestone in Lebanon, although experts warn that its practical implementation may face resistance from the competent authorities.
