Over 1300 years ago, the Chinese Buddhist monk Xuanzang embarked on a historic pilgrimage journey to India that lasted 17 years and covered approximately 25,000 kilometers, an impressive distance for the time. Unlike the fictionalized version told in Journey to the West, Xuanzang did not have the help of a Monkey King or supernatural companions, being a real expedition marked by dangers, privations, and remarkable determination.
