Suspected drug trafficker suffers heart attack and dies during escape in Military Police operation in Rio's North Zone

A 19-year-old man, Jeferson Ferreira da Silva, suffered a heart attack and died during a Military Police operation in the Campinho and Fubá communities, in the North Zone of Rio. According to the PM, he fell behind during the suspects' escape to a wooded area and was found unconscious by the officers. Four other criminals were arrested and a fifth was shot and taken to Carlos Chagas State Hospital. The operation, carried out by the Rocha Miranda and Jacarepaguá battalions, aimed to combat organized crime in the region, where armed men confronted the police and fled toward the woods.
A nine-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after falling from the second floor of a building in Caldas da Rainha. The PSP is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident, with no further details yet about what caused the fall.
