Government sues Discord after Lula's order and requests R$500 million fine: 'We cannot tolerate digital cracklands,' says Messias

The Brazilian government, through the Attorney General's Office (AGU), filed a public civil action against the Discord platform in Federal Court in Brasília, at the request of President Lula. The lawsuit seeks a fine of R$500 million for collective moral damages and demands that the company comply with Brazilian legislation. Minister Jorge Messias stated that the platform allows illegal practices, with insufficient protection for women, children, adolescents, and animals, and declared: "We cannot tolerate the creation of true digital cracklands in the Brazilian state."
