Drug trafficking suspect suffers heart attack and dies during escape in Military Police operation in Rio's North Zone

A 19-year-old young man, Jeferson Ferreira da Silva, died of cardiac arrest during a flee in the middle of a Military Police operation in the communities of Campinho and Fubá, in the North Zone of Rio. According to the PM, Jeferson fell behind the other suspects and was found unconscious in the woods. Four other criminals were arrested and a fifth was shot and taken to a hospital. The operation, carried out by the battalions of Rocha Miranda and Jacarepaguá, aimed to combat organized crime in the region.
The fires that devastated Vouzela and Valpaços were officially classified as a "natural disaster", opening the way for support to affected farmers.
