Rents. Higher education increases prices in Lisbon and Porto

With the entry of 50,000 new candidates to higher education, average rents in Lisbon have increased by about 10%, while in Porto the price rose by approximately 20 euros. Many of these students will travel to the capital, which has been driving demand for housing and, consequently, rent prices in the two main Portuguese cities.

Retorta opens temporary accommodation for families in vulnerable situations

A new unit of the National Urgent and Temporary Housing Fund was inaugurated in Retorta, Vila do Conde, resulting from a partnership between the Municipality and the local Santa Casa da Misericordia. The structure aims to host families in vulnerable situations, functioning as a transition stage towards permanent housing solutions, ensuring protection, inclusion and autonomy. This project is part of the national strategy for creating residential units through acquisition, rehabilitation or construction, with an investment of 203 million euros under the PRR, foreseeing 2,000 emergency or transition accommodations nationwide, in addition to dwellings, housing blocks and centers for security forces.

IHRU opens tender for rental of controlled-cost housing in Guarda-Gare

The Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) has opened a lottery competition for the rental of 26 dwellings at controlled costs on Rua São Pedro, in Guarda-Gare. Applications are open until September 17, under the Housing Support Program, providing housing that has undergone rehabilitation intervention.
