Eighteen buses were placed across important roads in the North Zone of Rio as barricades by criminals, in retaliation for a Military Police operation in the hills of Campinho and Fubá. The blockades occurred on Rua Clarimundo de Melo, Rua Ernani Cardoso, in Cascadura, and on Avenida Dom Hélder Câmara, affecting 33 bus lines, plus three other lines diverted in Água Santa, totaling 36 altered routes. The PM reported that teams are carrying out a joint operation to crack down on organized crime, and armed criminals engaged in a shootout with officers and fled into a forested area, where a perimeter is being established. A pistol has been seized so far.
