South Zone waterfront will have a leisure bike lane on Sundays and holidays exclusive for electric bikes and self-propelled vehicles

The Rio de Janeiro city government announced the creation of exclusive leisure bike lanes for electric bicycles and self-propelled vehicles, which will operate on Sundays and holidays. The first one will be installed experimentally on the South Zone waterfront, covering a distance of 7.2 km between Delfim Moreira Avenue, in Leblon, and Prado Júnior Street, in Copacabana, operating from 8am to 4pm on the roadway lane next to the central divider. The objective is to free up the bike path for pedestrians on the busiest days, and the initiative may be expanded to other points in the city where there are leisure areas.
