Flooding in Nepal triggers alert in India, and Bihar prepares districts for possible flooding of the Gandak river

A sudden flood of large proportions originating on the border between Tibet and Nepal raised concerns about a possible rise in the level of the Gandak River in the Indian state of Bihar. State authorities reinforced preparations in the most vulnerable districts, placing West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj and Saran on maximum alert. The government warned of the possibility of a flood wave of about three meters entering the river, ordering district administrations to monitor river levels, dikes, bridges and low-lying areas, while maintaining prepared evacuation mechanisms and assistance for the population.

The work investigates the Portuguese ancestors of the author's family and expands into broader historical research on the experience of Portuguese emigrants who crossed the Atlantic, settled in Brazil, and built new lives in the country. The event, free of charge but subject to prior confirmation, includes an author presentation, audiovisual component, conversation with the audience, and book signing session, seeking to provide reflection on the legacy of generations of Portuguese people in Brazil and the importance of preserving migratory memories.
