20 minutes: UN asks Portuguese Parliament to withdraw bills on gender identity
SIC Notícias26 August 2026 at 14:39
The UN asked the Portuguese Parliament to withdraw two bills on gender identity, through a communication from the High Commissioner for Human Rights. The international organization warns that these legislative proposals may stigmatize trans people and undermine international treaties signed by Portugal. The bills in question concern amendments to the gender identity law and the decriminalization of voluntary termination of pregnancy.
