Five new species of parasitic wasps from the superfamily Chalcidoidea have been discovered in Cyprus, more than doubling the number of endemic species known on the island, which until now was only four. One of the new species was named after the Greek goddess Aphrodite, in reference to the mythology associated with the island. The study significantly increases knowledge about Cyprus's biodiversity regarding these parasitic insects.
