Não havia glaciar, esponja, alterações climáticas: as origens da tragédia no Nepal
ZAP Notícias27 de agosto de 2026 às 08:51
A sudden avalanche on the border with Tibet caused an unusual landslide and a mud wave that destroyed houses, bridges, roads and villages in Nepal, causing one of the largest natural disasters ever in the country. The origin was not an earthquake nor the bursting of a glacial lake, but rather water-saturated land that compacted like a sponge, explained climate activist Prayash Adhikari to Al Jazeera. The tragedy, which occurred on a Thursday, is believed to have killed hundreds of people, although the count is still in a very early stage.
