SAPO Notícias30 August 2026 at 10:02

João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista became vice-world champions of canoeing in the K2 500 meters event. The Portuguese duo finished the race behind Germany, thus winning the silver medal at the world championship.

This silver comes after the same athletes had already won bronze in the K4 event, where they were joined by Gustavo Gonçalves and Pedro Casinha.

The four Portuguese athletes thus managed to repeat the result achieved in 2025, maintaining the same level of performance in the world competition.

Germany completed the podium in first place, while Portugal finished among the top three nations in the competition.
