ADN-Madeira, through Carolina Martins, veterinarian and member of the party's coordination, proposed the periodic publication of aggregated data on reports of abuse, abandonment, and animal welfare in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The initiative comes after it was reported that, in 2026, the PSP and GNR received only 14 complaints, a number that the party considers does not reflect the true extent of the problem.
According to Carolina Martins, reports are not limited to security forces, coming through various channels and not all constituting a crime. The party understands that the lack of centralized data hinders the true understanding of the situation.
ADN-Madeira argues that the periodic publication of statistics on these issues would allow for a better assessment of the phenomenon in the region and would contribute to greater public awareness about the need for animal protection.
