A coyote that has been roaming for over a year through Studio City, in Los Angeles, California, went viral on social media due to a large growth on the left side of its face. The mass extends from the left eye area to the tip of the animal's snout. Local residents named the animal Wendy, while the East Valley shelter calls it Sunshine.
Wildlife Care of Southern California, a wildlife protection organization, has been trying to locate and capture the coyote for approximately five weeks so it can be examined by veterinarians. It is still not possible to determine the cause of the animal's health problem.
According to the organization, only an in-person examination accompanied by X-rays can provide a diagnosis and prognosis for the coyote. The rescue mobilized local residents who followed the attempts to capture the animal.
