Joe Anderson, 45, interim mayor of Englewood, died during a hike on Friday (28) at Quandary Peak, a 4,350-meter mountain in Colorado, after feeling difficulty breathing, falling and losing consciousness on the lower slopes of one of the Rocky Mountains.
Other hikers rushed to his aid and tried to resuscitate him with CPR maneuvers until emergency crews and police arrived, called around 6:40 in the morning. However, Anderson did not respond to first aid and was declared dead on the mountain.
The body is now undergoing an autopsy to investigate the cause of death, according to information from the Denver Gazette, CBS and The New York Post. Anderson was a pastor before entering politics.
