Milo Yiannopoulos, a British influencer who promoted far-right conspiracy theories and racism in the United States, was deported to the United Kingdom on Friday, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Yiannopoulos is one of the first supporters of Donald Trump and later became involved in the attempt to bring rapper Kanye West to the presidency.
He was arrested on Thursday by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos entered the country legally in 2019 but remained in the United States after his visa expired.
Yiannopoulos received a final deportation order from an immigration judge in July after failing to appear at his hearing. He now faces return to the United Kingdom as a direct result of that order and the action of American immigration authorities.
