Pernambuco music was in the spotlight on the SP Gastronomia stage this Saturday (29), at Parque Villa-Lobos, in the West Zone of São Paulo. The 27-year-old singer and songwriter Laura Simões made her third appearance at the festival, presenting a repertoire dedicated to Northeastern roots, with references to coco, maracatu, baião and forró.

Laura Simões has been building her career for over ten years, dividing her trajectory between cities like Recife, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, she also works as a producer and actress, demonstrating a multifaceted artistic trajectory.

The artist stated that it is an honor to be part of the event and that she already feels at home at the festival. She highlighted that this was the first time she brought to the stage a show that truly represents her Pernambuco and Northeastern roots, unlike her other two previous appearances, when she presented shows with a different sound.

Fliparacatu: Imagining other futures is a way of looking at the present, according to Paulliny Tort and Sérgio Abranches

During the panel "Speculative fiction between the past and the future" at the 4th Fliparacatu, authors Paulliny Tort and Sérgio Abranches discussed how literary imagination serves as a tool for understanding the present, and not just as an escape from reality. Drawing from their works — "Os Imortais" and "A Franja do Fim do Mundo" — the writers explored themes such as the climate crisis, social inequalities, and criticism of the neoliberal model that reduces human existence to productivity. Both argued that imagining futures, whether by returning to prehistory or projecting dystopias, is a way of exercising autonomy and making visible issues that the present insists on hiding, affirming that literature functions as a rehearsal space for collectively thinking about what kind of society one intends to build.
