Rádio Portalegre29 August 2026 at 21:58

The Festival do Crato closed its 2026 edition with over 50 thousand paid entries, a number that exceeded the organization's expectations. This result represents significant growth compared to previous editions of the event.

In parallel, the Craft and Gastronomy Fair, which took place alongside the festival, received between 20 and 25 thousand visitors throughout the event. The two complementary events contributed to the dynamization of the region during the festive period.

The mayor of the Municipality, Joaquim Diogo, made a public assessment of the edition, classifying the results as "very positive". The mayor highlighted that the numbers confirm the importance of the festival for the municipality and for attracting visitors to the region.

The 2026 edition of the Festival do Crato thus reinforces the event's position as one of the main cultural and tourism events on the regional calendar, consolidating the bet on diversified programming that combines music, craftsmanship, and gastronomy.

Fliparacatu: Imagining other futures is a way of looking at the present, according to Paulliny Tort and Sérgio Abranches

During the panel "Speculative fiction between the past and the future" at the 4th Fliparacatu, authors Paulliny Tort and Sérgio Abranches discussed how literary imagination serves as a tool for understanding the present, and not just as an escape from reality. Drawing from their works — "Os Imortais" and "A Franja do Fim do Mundo" — the writers explored themes such as the climate crisis, social inequalities, and criticism of the neoliberal model that reduces human existence to productivity. Both argued that imagining futures, whether by returning to prehistory or projecting dystopias, is a way of exercising autonomy and making visible issues that the present insists on hiding, affirming that literature functions as a rehearsal space for collectively thinking about what kind of society one intends to build.
