SIC Notícias29 August 2026 at 21:22

The 12th edition of adapted surfing took place in Matosinhos, bringing together dozens of participants facing various limitations, including people in wheelchairs, people with motor limitations and other difficulties. The event provided participants with the opportunity to exchange their usual conditions for the experience of sliding over the sea waves.

Participants were able to experience the sensation of freedom that adapted surfing offers, transforming the moment of entering the sea into a meaningful experience of overcoming and contact with nature. The activity took place on the beaches of Matosinhos, a location that has been hosting this initiative over the years.

The event already has 12 editions completed, which demonstrates the growth and consolidation of this adapted sport initiative in the North of Portugal region. The organization has been providing people with different types of difficulties the opportunity to practice surfing in a safe and accompanied way.
