"Many times, these drone attacks aim to wear down air defenses and launch another type of attack that may be of larger scale"

CNN Portugal29 August 2026 at 17:26

Francisco Cordeiro de Araújo, journalist for CNN Portugal who is in Ukraine on special assignment, spoke about the risks of new large-scale attacks by Russia against Ukraine.

According to the cited specialist, drone attacks frequently aim to wear down Ukrainian air defenses before a larger-scale attack.

This strategy allows Russia to test and weaken defense capabilities before launching larger operations.

The analysis comes in the context of growing tension and concern about possible new Russian attacks against targets in Ukraine.
