SAPO Notícias29 August 2026 at 16:13

Tadej Pogacar suffered a serious crash during the 8th stage of the Vuelta a España and was forced to abandon the race. The Slovenian rider, who was wearing the red leader's jersey, crashed during the stage and was unable to continue competing.

The crash occurred in circumstances that have not yet been fully clarified, but it appears to have been quite serious, given that it resulted in the immediate abandonment of the UAE Team Emirates rider.

Pogacar was one of the main favorites for overall victory in the Tour of Spain, having already shown great form during the competition before this incident.

With the leader's withdrawal, the general classification of the Vuelta a España undergoes a significant change, opening new possibilities for the remaining candidates for overall victory.
