The Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar abandoned the Vuelta after suffering a spectacular crash during the eighth stage of the race. The incident occurred at 32 kilometres from the finish line, when the Slovenian cyclist fell violently during the competition.

Pogacar, who is one of the favourites for overall victory at the Vuelta, was unable to recover after the crash and was forced to withdraw from the race. The fall caused a significant delay in the race, also affecting other riders who were close to the Slovenian.

This abandonment represents a harsh blow to Pogacar's aspirations in this edition of the Vuelta. The rider had already shown good form in the previous stages and was considered one of the main contenders for the title of the Spanish competition.

The Vuelta organisation has not yet released details about the cyclist's condition following the crash. Medical staff monitored the situation closely, but the rider was ultimately unable to continue in the race.
